Change Your Life - Change the Way You Live

So you want to change your life. Really? Well, if that is true, then you better change the way you live. This is where most people have a tendency to falter. They have been suckered in by the old name it and claim it crowd. They are under the impression that just saying something out loud or to themselves are going to change their life. Unfortunately for them, this does not make it happen or magically come into being. It is an illusion that costs you far more than money.

This last week I overheard a young lady complaining about the cost and risk of what she was buying at the grocery store for her and her family. She commented to buy all organic products like she would like to put a huge burden on her budget. She just could not see how that would ever be possible with the prices of so many other things going up. As she read the ingredients of another package then placed it back on the shelf, I made a suggestion through a question, Have you ever thought about planting your own garden? She flashed me the strangest look and shot back, I should not have to plant my own garden to get quality food for my family! I simply said, Okay and walked away.

Now she may not be living in a place that allows her to plant a garden but anyone can have some vegetables and herbs in a planter or two. But the truth is, if you do not want to pay the price for organic food, you have no other choice than to do something else; plant yourself a garden; get a raised bed or two and plant out on your balcony or landing; plant what you can in pots or window boxes. Form a garden co-op, do something but do not make excuses and blame others for the quality of your food or your life.

Does planting your own garden mean you have to learn something new? Yes. Does that mean you have to work out in the yard? Yes. Does it mean I get to choose what I plant? Yes, as long as your region can grow it. Does it mean I get to use pesticides or not? Yes, you get to choose organic or not.

What about winter? What do you eat then? You have several choices; you can plant a winter garden where there is some protection; you can purchase a greenhouse as they come in many shapes and sizes from mini greenhouses to home and backyard greenhouses; or you can use the same garden to plant a winter crop and use a cold frame to help extend the growing season. There are a lot of options for this and any other challenge you may have in your life.

The real question is this, do you have what it takes to change the way you live? If you do not or will not, stop complaining and get on with your life and except that it will not change because you really do not want it too. However, if you do, you are in for the time of your life. You will come to find out that when you change the way you live your life cannot but change the way you want.
